Welcome to My Betta Blog

Welcome to My Betta Blog

This is my journey of raising and breeding Betta Splendens (Siamese Fighters). Betta are traditionally found in SE Asian countries like Thailand & Malaysia. There are many different types of Betta available. They are also available in many colors, some are bold/full colored and some are mixed. It is a well known fact that some countries around the world engage in the sport of Betta Fighting, where two male Betta's a put in the same tank to fight it out. Surviving Betta is the winner, please note that i do not raise/breed Betta's for this purpose.

Hole In The Head (HITH)

This was one of my Betta that just arrived on the weekend from Thailand, it is my Giant Fancy Blue Plakat.  He has come down with a disease known as Hole In The Head.  It is a disease that eats into the head of the betta making a open wound.  If not treated the infection will slowly eat the whole Betta up.  HITH is common when Betta's are being shipped from overseas because they spend long period of time in the same water and sometimes disease can form.  He is now in a seperate tank dipping in antibiotics, hopefully he will overcome it and make a full recovery.
